Dexters' resident Hampton expert Abigail Boucher gave her thoughts on the market in an interview with the Financial Times.
As detailed in the article below, high-ranked independent schools such as Lady Eleanor Holles and Hampton are a key attraction. So are the prices. The best homes sell for £600 per sq ft, says Boucher — a saving on the prime central London average.
Homes on “The Ormonds” are most desirable, along with Wensleydale and Gloucester Roads, says Boucher. Dexters is marketing a six-bedroom, triple-fronted Edwardian house on Ormond Avenue for £1.995m.
Current prices seems to be drawing in buyers. Buyers may be tempted by the four-bedroom family house on Broad Lane, on sale with Dexters for £1.395m.
“We used to just move people from road to road,” says Abigail Boucher, director of Dexters’ Hampton office, but in the past few years buyers have been coming from further afield. Boucher estimates the share of buyers from more central London locations such as Putney and Chiswick has doubled in the past three years to make up 60 per cent of the market.
