If you're considering a move to Islington and would like to better acquaint yourself with the neighbourhood, why not take a tour of the addresses included in this year's People's Plaques scheme?

By the end of November Islington residents will have cast their vote and the three most popular shortlisted buildings - one-time homes of famous Islington residents from Lords cricket ground founder, Thomas Lord to Laurie Cunningham, England's first black international footballer - will be adorned with a green "people's plaque" to commemorate the achievements of their former inhabitants.

From politics to the arts, sports to religion, this shortlist is as diverse and vibrant as Islington itself - an undeniable part of its charm. This is a borough renowned for its enduring community vibe just as much as its live music venues and eclectic Upper Street restaurants, with city workers, couples and families living alongside students and pensioners.

Karen Keating, Manager of Dexters Islington, says this diversity is reflected in the accommodation on offer too: "Period family homes, quirky conversions and purpose-built flats for sale in N1 and the surrounding area combine with a buoyant market for rental property in Islington. This appeals to a vast range of potential buyers and tenants."

Dexters Islington is at the Islington Green end of Upper Street; stop by while you’re here for more details about property to rent or buy in Islington
